Homemade Coconut Chocolate 🥥🍫
This Homemade Coconut Chocolate is rich, creamy, and wonderfully coconutty. Made with simple ingredients, it is an easy homemade treat that can be poured into molds, topped with toasted coconut, or turned into bite-sized chocolate bars.
Ingredients
- ½ cup (120 g) coconut oil
- ½ cup (45 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3–4 tablespoons powdered sugar or powdered sweetener
- ¼ cup (60 ml) coconut milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup (40 g) unsweetened shredded coconut
- Pinch of salt
Optional
- 2 tablespoons chopped almonds
- 1 tablespoon honey
- ½ teaspoon instant coffee
- Toasted coconut flakes for topping
Directions
1. Melt the Coconut Oil
Place the coconut oil in a small saucepan.
Warm it over very low heat until completely melted.
Don’t let it become extremely hot.
2. Add the Cocoa
Remove the saucepan from the heat.
Gradually whisk in the cocoa powder.
Continue whisking until completely smooth and there are no cocoa lumps.
3. Add the Sweetener
Add the powdered sugar, coconut milk, vanilla extract, and a small pinch of salt.
Whisk thoroughly until the mixture becomes smooth and glossy.
Tip: Powdered sweetener dissolves more easily than granulated sugar.
4. Add the Coconut
Stir in the shredded coconut.
Mix until the coconut is evenly distributed throughout the chocolate mixture.
If you’re adding almonds or other nuts, stir them in now.
5. Fill the Molds
Pour the chocolate mixture into silicone chocolate molds, mini muffin cups, or a small parchment-lined dish.
Tap the mold gently against the counter to remove air bubbles.
Sprinkle toasted coconut over the top if desired.
6. Chill
Place the chocolate in the refrigerator for 1–2 hours, or until completely firm.
For faster results, place it in the freezer for about 20–30 minutes.
7. Remove and Serve
Once firm, gently remove the chocolates from the molds.
Serve chilled or keep refrigerated until ready to enjoy.
