Dump frozen broccoli and tender chicken pieces into the pot, then add garlic and honey for a simple, sticky, savory-sweet dinner the whole family will love. It comes together quickly with just a handful of everyday ingredients.
Ingredients
- 1½ lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 4 cups frozen broccoli florets
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- ⅓ cup honey
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ cup water
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons cold water
- Cooked rice, for serving
- Sesame seeds and green onions, optional
Instructions
- Cook the chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet or pot over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and black pepper. Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned and almost cooked through.
- Add the broccoli: Add the frozen broccoli directly to the pot. Cook for 4–5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Make it garlicky: Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, just until fragrant.
- Add the honey sauce: Stir in the honey, soy sauce, and ¼ cup water. Mix well so the chicken and broccoli are completely coated.
- Make it sticky: Combine the cornstarch with 2 tablespoons cold water. Stir until smooth, then pour it into the pot while stirring. Simmer for 1–2 minutes until the sauce becomes thick, glossy, and sticky.
- Serve: Spoon the garlic honey chicken and broccoli over hot rice. Garnish with sesame seeds or sliced green onions if desired.
Quick Tip
For a stronger garlic flavor, add an extra clove or two. For a little heat, add red pepper flakes or a pinch of chili powder.
