Rosemary Hair Growth Water
Rosemary is a popular traditional ingredient in hair-care routines. A homemade rosemary rinse can make the scalp feel refreshed and may help condition the hair, but rosemary water has not been proven to make hair grow dramatically or prevent gray hair.
Ingredients
- 2–3 fresh rosemary sprigs or 2 tablespoons dried rosemary
- 2 cups water
Directions
- Rinse the rosemary thoroughly.
- Add the rosemary and water to a small saucepan.
- Bring to a gentle boil.
- Reduce the heat and simmer for 10–15 minutes.
- Turn off the heat and let it cool completely.
- Strain the liquid into a clean bottle.
- After shampooing, apply the rosemary water to your scalp.
- Gently massage your scalp for 3–5 minutes.
- Leave it on for 20–30 minutes, then rinse, or leave it on if your scalp tolerates it.
- Use 2–3 times per week.
Rosemary Oil Option
If you’re specifically interested in rosemary for hair growth, diluted rosemary essential oil has more research behind it than rosemary water.
Never apply rosemary essential oil directly to your scalp. Dilute a few drops in a suitable carrier oil and patch-test first.
Important
Stop using it if you develop burning, redness, itching, or irritation. Rosemary cannot reliably reverse gray hair, and persistent hair loss or a receding hairline should be evaluated to identify the underlying cause.
