Quick Crockpot Tuna Noodle Casserole
This Quick Crockpot Tuna Noodle Casserole is an easy, creamy comfort meal made with tender egg noodles, flaky tuna, vegetables, and a rich, savory sauce. With minimal prep and simple pantry ingredients, it’s perfect for busy weeknights when you want a warm and satisfying dinner without much effort.
Ingredients
- 12 oz (340 g) wide egg noodles
- 2 cans (5 oz each) tuna, drained and flaked
- 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup frozen peas and carrots
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup sour cream
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup crushed crackers, optional
- 2 tablespoons melted butter, optional
Directions
1. Prepare the Sauce
In a bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup, milk, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
2. Add the Ingredients to the Crockpot
Lightly grease the inside of a 6-quart slow cooker.
Add the uncooked egg noodles, drained tuna, and frozen peas and carrots.
Pour the creamy sauce over everything and gently stir until well combined.
3. Add the Cheese
Sprinkle about ¾ cup of the shredded cheddar cheese over the mixture and gently stir.
Reserve the remaining cheese for the topping.
4. Slow Cook
Cover and cook on LOW for approximately 2–3 hours, stirring once or twice during cooking.
Start checking the noodles around the 2-hour mark because slow cookers vary. The noodles should be tender but not mushy, and the casserole should be hot throughout.
5. Add the Topping
When the noodles are tender, sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese over the top.
If using crackers, combine the crushed crackers with melted butter and sprinkle them over the cheese.
Cover and cook for another 10–15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the topping is warm and crisp.
6. Serve
Turn off the slow cooker and let the casserole rest for about 5 minutes.
Spoon into bowls and serve warm.
Recipe Tips
- Check the casserole early because cooking times can vary significantly between slow cookers.
- Avoid overcooking the noodles, as they can become soft quickly.
- Add mushrooms, corn, broccoli, or chopped celery for extra vegetables.
- For a richer flavor, use sharp cheddar cheese.
- If the casserole seems too thick, stir in a small splash of warm milk.
- Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3–4 days.
