Million Dollar Pie
Million Dollar Pie is a classic no-bake dessert that’s creamy, sweet, tangy, and loaded with tropical flavor. A buttery graham cracker crust is filled with a luscious mixture of condensed milk, pineapple, coconut, and whipped topping, then chilled until perfectly set.
Ingredients
For the Crust
- 1½ cups graham cracker crumbs
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
For the Filling
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 can (8 oz) crushed pineapple, very well drained
- 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
- ½ cup chopped pecans
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1½ cups whipped topping
- ½ cup whipped topping, for garnish
Optional Garnish
- Toasted coconut
- Chopped pecans
- Pineapple pieces
- Maraschino cherries
Directions
1. Make the Crust
Combine the graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and sugar in a bowl.
Mix until the crumbs are evenly moistened.
Press firmly into the bottom and sides of a 9-inch pie dish.
Refrigerate for 20–30 minutes while preparing the filling.
2. Prepare the Filling
In a large bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, lemon juice, and vanilla extract.
Stir in the well-drained crushed pineapple, shredded coconut, and chopped pecans.
Mix until evenly combined.
3. Fold in the Whipped Topping
Gently fold 1½ cups whipped topping into the pineapple mixture.
Don’t overmix—you want the filling to remain light and fluffy.
4. Fill the Crust
Spoon the filling into the chilled graham cracker crust.
Spread the top evenly with a spatula.
5. Chill
Cover the pie and refrigerate for at least 4–6 hours, preferably overnight.
The filling needs plenty of time to firm up.
6. Garnish and Serve
Before serving, add dollops or a layer of whipped topping.
Sprinkle with toasted coconut and chopped pecans.
Add a few pineapple pieces or cherries if desired.
Slice and serve chilled.
Tips for the Best Million Dollar Pie
Drain the pineapple extremely well: Excess liquid can make the filling loose and prevent the pie from setting properly.
Chill overnight: The longer chilling time gives you cleaner slices and better flavor.
Toast the coconut: Toasting it lightly in a dry skillet adds wonderful nutty flavor.
Use fresh lemon juice: It provides the tangy contrast that keeps the sweet filling from becoming overwhelming.
Easy Variations
Coconut Cream
Add ½ teaspoon coconut extract for an extra tropical flavor.
Cherry Million Dollar Pie
Fold in ½ cup chopped maraschino cherries and garnish with whole cherries.
Chocolate Version
Use a chocolate cookie crust and add mini chocolate chips to the filling.
No-Bake Oreo Crust
Replace the graham cracker crust with a prepared Oreo cookie crust.
Storage
Keep the pie covered and refrigerated for up to 3–4 days.
For a firmer texture, place individual slices in the freezer for 20–30 minutes before serving.
Creamy condensed milk, tangy pineapple, sweet coconut, crunchy pecans, and fluffy whipped topping make Million Dollar Pie an irresistible old-fashioned no-bake dessert.
