Keto Musketeer Candy 🍫🥜
These Keto Musketeer Candy Bars are a delicious low-carb treat inspired by the classic chocolate nougat candy bar. They feature a soft, fluffy nougat-style center covered in rich sugar-free chocolate. They’re perfect when you’re craving something chocolatey without the traditional sugar load.
Note: “Keto” depends on the ingredients you use. Check the nutrition labels on your sweeteners and chocolate because carbohydrate counts vary significantly between brands.
Ingredients
For the Nougat Center
- ½ cup (120 g) creamy peanut butter
- ¼ cup (60 ml) heavy whipping cream
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 3 tablespoons powdered allulose or another keto-friendly powdered sweetener
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- ¼ cup powdered milk, optional
For the Chocolate Coating
- 1½ cups (255 g) sugar-free chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract, optional
Directions
1. Prepare the Pan
Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
Leave some parchment hanging over the sides so you can easily lift the candy out later.
Lightly grease the parchment.
2. Make the Nougat Mixture
Place the peanut butter, heavy cream, and butter in a small saucepan.
Heat over low heat, stirring continuously until the butter melts and everything becomes smooth.
Remove from the heat.
Add the powdered sweetener, vanilla, salt, and cocoa powder.
Stir until completely combined.
If using powdered milk, add it now and mix thoroughly.
The mixture should be thick, smooth, and spreadable.
3. Form the Candy Center
Pour the mixture into the prepared pan.
Spread it evenly using a spatula.
Press the surface gently to remove any air pockets.
Refrigerate for 1–2 hours, or until firm.
For a firmer center, freeze for about 30–45 minutes.
4. Cut the Bars
Lift the chilled candy from the pan using the parchment paper.
Place it on a cutting board.
Cut into small bars or bite-sized squares.
Return the pieces to the refrigerator while preparing the chocolate coating.
5. Melt the Chocolate
Place the sugar-free chocolate chips and coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl.
Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring thoroughly after each interval.
Continue until smooth.
You can also melt the chocolate gently over a double boiler.
Don’t overheat the chocolate.
6. Coat the Candy
Using two forks, dip each chilled candy piece into the melted chocolate.
Turn it gently to coat all sides.
Lift it out and allow the excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl.
Place the coated candy on a parchment-lined tray.
7. Let the Chocolate Set
Refrigerate the candy for approximately 20–30 minutes, or until the chocolate coating is completely firm.
For a decorative finish, drizzle a little extra melted chocolate over the tops.

Tips for Better Keto Musketeer Candy
Use Allulose for a Softer Texture
Allulose tends to produce a smoother, less gritty texture than some other low-carb sweeteners.
Make It More Chocolatey
Add another 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder to the filling for a deeper chocolate flavor.
Add a Crunch
For a crunchy variation, fold ¼ cup finely chopped roasted peanuts into the filling.
Make Mini Candy Bites
Instead of making bars, cut the chilled center into small bite-sized pieces. They’re perfect for keeping in the refrigerator when you want a small sweet treat.
Use Dark Chocolate
A very dark sugar-free chocolate coating gives the candy a richer flavor and balances the sweetness of the filling.
Storage
Store the finished candy in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
You can also freeze the pieces for up to 2 months. Place parchment paper between layers to prevent them from sticking together.
Allow frozen pieces to sit at room temperature for a few minutes before eating.
