🥖 Ingredients
For the Filling
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- ½ small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ cup diced bell pepper
- ½ cup cooked bacon, chopped
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon salt
For the Bread
- 1 lb (450 g) refrigerated or prepared pizza dough
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese, optional
👩🍳 Instructions
1. Prepare the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Cook the Beef
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the ground beef and diced onion.
Cook for 6–8 minutes, breaking the beef apart as it cooks, until browned and fully cooked.
Drain any excess grease.
Add the garlic and bell pepper and cook for another 2–3 minutes.
3. Make the Filling
Reduce the heat to low.
Stir in the bacon, mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt.
Remove from the heat.
Let the mixture cool for a few minutes, then stir in the cheddar and mozzarella.
4. Roll Out the Dough
Place the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface.
Roll it into a rectangle approximately 12×16 inches.
Try to keep the dough an even thickness.
5. Add the Filling
Spread the beef mixture evenly over the dough, leaving about 1 inch of space around the edges.
Don’t spread the filling too thickly or the bread may be difficult to roll.
6. Roll the Bread
Starting from one long side, tightly roll the dough into a log.
Pinch the seam and ends closed.
Place it seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
7. Brush and Bake
Brush the top with melted butter.
Sprinkle with garlic powder and Parmesan if using.
Using a sharp knife, make a few shallow cuts across the top to allow steam to escape.
Bake for 25–35 minutes, or until the bread is puffed and deeply golden brown.
8. Rest and Slice
Remove from the oven and let the bread rest for 10 minutes.
Sprinkle with fresh parsley.
Slice into thick pieces and serve warm.
⭐ Tips for the Best Garbage Bread
- Let the cooked filling cool slightly before adding it to the dough.
- Don’t overfill the dough.
- Seal the edges well so the cheese doesn’t escape during baking.
- Place the bread seam-side down to help prevent it from opening.
- Let it rest before slicing so the filling stays inside.
- For extra crispy bread, brush the outside with garlic butter before baking.
