Crock Pot Creamy Lemon Garlic Butter Chicken
This Crock Pot Creamy Lemon Garlic Butter Chicken is a rich, comforting dinner made with tender chicken breasts simmered in a creamy sauce infused with garlic, butter, Parmesan, and fresh lemon. It’s easy to prepare and pairs beautifully with pasta, rice, mashed potatoes, or crusty bread.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 5 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons cold water
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- ½ teaspoon lemon zest, optional
Directions
1. Season the Chicken
Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels.
Season both sides with paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper.
2. Add the Chicken to the Crock Pot
Place the seasoned chicken breasts in the bottom of a 6-quart slow cooker.
Add the butter and minced garlic around and over the chicken.
3. Add the Broth
Pour the chicken broth into the slow cooker.
Cover and cook on LOW for 4–5 hours or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
4. Make the Creamy Sauce
About 20–30 minutes before serving, carefully stir in the heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, lemon juice, and lemon zest if using.
Keep the slow cooker on LOW and allow the sauce to heat gently.
5. Thicken the Sauce
In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with cold water until smooth.
Stir the slurry into the slow cooker.
Cover and cook for another 10–15 minutes, or until the sauce thickens to your preferred consistency.
6. Finish the Dish
Taste the sauce and adjust the salt, pepper, or lemon juice if needed.
Sprinkle with fresh parsley.
7. Serve
Spoon the creamy lemon garlic butter sauce generously over the chicken.
Serve with mashed potatoes, rice, pasta, roasted vegetables, or warm crusty bread.
Recipe Tips
- Use freshly squeezed lemon juice for the best flavor.
- Add the cream near the end rather than cooking it for several hours.
- If the sauce becomes too thick, stir in a little warm chicken broth.
- For extra flavor, add sliced mushrooms or baby spinach during the final 20–30 minutes.
- Chicken breasts vary in size, so use a thermometer to confirm they reach 165°F (74°C).
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days.
