Chocolate-Dipped Frozen Bananas are an easy, refreshing treat made with creamy frozen bananas and a crisp chocolate coating. With just a few simple ingredients, you can make these delicious freezer treats at home and customize them with peanuts, coconut, sprinkles, or your favorite toppings.
Ingredients
For 6 pieces:
- 6 ripe bananas
- 6 wooden popsicle sticks
- 200 g dark chocolate
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil
Optional toppings:
- Crushed peanuts
- Shredded coconut
- Colorful sprinkles
- Chopped almonds or other nuts
Instructions
- Prepare the bananas: Peel the bananas and cut each one in half. Insert a wooden stick into the cut end of each banana half.
- Freeze: Arrange the banana pieces on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Freeze for at least 2 hours, or until completely firm.
- Melt the chocolate: Break the dark chocolate into pieces and combine it with the coconut oil. Melt in a double boiler or microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval until smooth.
- Dip the bananas: Remove the frozen bananas from the freezer. Dip each banana into the melted chocolate, turning it gently until evenly coated.
- Add toppings: Immediately sprinkle or roll the chocolate-covered bananas in your chosen toppings before the chocolate hardens.
- Freeze again: Place the coated bananas back onto the parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Set the chocolate: Return them to the freezer for about 15 minutes, or until the chocolate coating is completely firm.
- Serve: Store the finished bananas in an airtight container in the freezer. For the best texture, remove them about 5 minutes before serving.
Tips for the Best Chocolate-Dipped Bananas
- Use bananas that are ripe but still firm rather than overly soft.
- Make sure the bananas are thoroughly frozen before dipping so the chocolate sets quickly.
- Dark, milk, or semi-sweet chocolate can be used depending on your preference.
- Prepare your toppings before dipping because the chocolate hardens quickly.
- Store the bananas in a single layer initially to prevent the chocolate coating from sticking together.
