A golden, flaky taco ring filled with seasoned ground beef and gooey melted cheese. Made with refrigerated crescent dough, this fun and easy dinner is perfect for family meals, parties, game nights, or taco Tuesday.
🌮 Ingredients
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- ½ cup water
- 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 2 tubes refrigerated crescent roll dough
- ½ small onion, finely diced
- ½ cup diced tomatoes, optional
- ¼ cup sliced jalapeños, optional
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 egg, beaten, for brushing
- Sour cream, for serving
- Salsa, for serving
- Guacamole, for serving
👩🍳 Instructions
1. Cook the Beef
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the ground beef and diced onion. Cook for 6–8 minutes, breaking up the beef until browned and fully cooked.
Drain any excess grease.
Add the taco seasoning and water.
Stir well and simmer for 2–3 minutes, until the mixture thickens.
Remove from the heat and let it cool slightly.
2. Prepare the Crescent Dough
Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into triangles.
Arrange the triangles in a circle on a large parchment-lined baking sheet, with the wide ends overlapping in the center and the pointed ends facing outward.
The arrangement should resemble a sunburst or ring.
3. Add the Filling
Spoon the seasoned beef onto the wide portion of each crescent triangle.
Sprinkle the cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese evenly over the beef.
Add diced tomatoes or jalapeños if desired.
4. Form the Ring
Starting at the wide end, bring each pointed dough end up and over the filling.
Tuck the tip underneath the center portion of dough.
Continue around the entire circle until the beef and cheese are enclosed.
Some of the filling can remain slightly visible between the folds.
5. Brush With Egg
Brush the exposed dough lightly with beaten egg.
This gives the taco ring a beautiful golden, glossy finish.
6. Bake
Bake for approximately 20–25 minutes, or until the crescent dough is puffed and golden brown and the cheese is melted.
Remove from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
7. Serve
Place the taco ring on a large serving platter.
Sprinkle with fresh cilantro.
Serve with bowls of sour cream, salsa, and guacamole in the center of the ring for dipping.
⭐ Tips for the Best Taco Ring
- Let the beef cool slightly before adding it to the dough so the crescent dough remains easy to handle.
- Don’t overfill the ring, or the dough may not seal properly.
- Use freshly shredded cheese for the best melting.
- Make sure the crescent triangles overlap enough to hold the filling together.
- Allow the ring to rest briefly after baking so the cheese doesn’t spill out when sliced.
