Lemon, Ginger, Garlic & Cinnamon Honey Wellness Mix
This is a simple homemade mixture that combines lemon, fresh ginger, garlic, cinnamon, and honey. It can be used as a flavorful wellness drink or taken in a small amount with warm water. It is not a proven treatment for infections, weight loss, diabetes, or other medical conditions, but the ingredients can add flavor and provide various nutrients and plant compounds.
Ingredients
- 1 large lemon
- 2–3 inches fresh ginger
- 3–4 cloves fresh garlic
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup raw or regular honey
Directions
- Wash the lemon and ginger thoroughly.
- Peel the ginger and finely grate it.
- Peel the garlic cloves and mince them very finely.
- Squeeze the lemon and remove any seeds.
- Add the grated ginger, minced garlic, lemon juice, and cinnamon to a clean glass jar.
- Pour in the honey.
- Stir everything together thoroughly.
- Close the jar and refrigerate it.
How to Use It
For a warm wellness drink:
- Add 1 teaspoon of the mixture to a cup.
- Pour in about 1 cup of warm water.
- Stir well and drink.
Avoid very hot or boiling water if you want to preserve the fresh lemon and honey flavor.
You can have it once daily, preferably with or after food if the lemon or garlic irritates your stomach.
Important Safety Tips
- Do not give honey to children under 1 year old.
- Garlic, ginger, and cinnamon can cause heartburn or stomach irritation in some people.
- Honey is high in sugar, so people with diabetes should account for it in their carbohydrate intake.
- If you take blood-thinning medication, have a bleeding disorder, or are preparing for surgery, ask your doctor before regularly consuming large amounts of garlic, ginger, or cinnamon.
- This mixture should not replace prescribed medication or treatment for an illness.
Storage
Because this contains fresh lemon, ginger, and garlic, keep it refrigerated in a clean, tightly covered jar and use a clean spoon each time. For the safest approach, make a small batch rather than storing it for long periods.
