3-Ingredient Slow Cooker Sweet & Savory Pulled Beef
This easy 3-ingredient slow cooker beef is the kind of meal that fills the house with an incredible aroma all day. Just pour the simple sweet-and-savory mixture over the meat, let the slow cooker do the work, and you’ll end up with incredibly tender beef that practically falls apart with a fork.
Ingredients
- 3–4 lb beef chuck roast
- 1 packet onion soup mix
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- ½ cup brown sugar
Directions
- Prepare the Beef
Place the chuck roast in a 6-quart slow cooker. Trim away any large pieces of excess fat if desired. - Add the 3-Ingredient Sauce
In a small bowl, combine the onion soup mix, barbecue sauce, and brown sugar. Stir until well combined. - Pour Over the Meat
Pour the sweet-and-savory mixture evenly over the roast, making sure the top is well coated. - Slow Cook
Cover and cook on LOW for 8–9 hours or HIGH for 4–5 hours, until the beef is very tender and easily pulls apart with a fork. - Shred the Beef
Transfer the cooked roast to a large plate or cutting board. Use two forks to shred the meat into bite-sized pieces. - Combine With the Sauce
Return the shredded beef to the slow cooker and stir it into the flavorful cooking juices. Let it sit for about 10 minutes before serving.
Serving Ideas
Serve the tender beef over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles, or pile it onto toasted buns for delicious sandwiches.
Recipe Tips
- Chuck roast works especially well because its marbling becomes tender during slow cooking.
- Don’t add extra salt until you’ve tasted the finished dish—the onion soup mix can already be salty.
- For a little heat, add red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated in an airtight container for 3–4 days.
