Creamy Mango Float
Creamy, fruity, chilled, and incredibly easy to make, this Creamy Mango Float is the perfect no-bake dessert for warm days. Layers of juicy ripe mangoes, sweetened cream, and soft graham crackers come together to create a delicious icebox-style dessert that tastes even better after a night in the refrigerator.
Ingredients
- 4 ripe mangoes, peeled and thinly sliced or diced
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream, well chilled
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 package graham crackers
- 1/2 cup crushed graham crackers, for topping
- Pinch of salt, optional
Instructions
1. Prepare the Mangoes
Peel the mangoes and slice them into thin strips or small bite-sized pieces.
Set aside a few attractive slices for decorating the top.
2. Make the Cream Mixture
Pour the chilled heavy cream into a large mixing bowl.
Using an electric mixer, beat until the cream becomes thick and forms soft peaks.
Gradually add the condensed milk and vanilla extract. Continue mixing until the mixture is creamy, fluffy, and spreadable.
Add a tiny pinch of salt if desired to balance the sweetness.
3. Start Layering
Use an 8-inch square baking dish or a similar deep glass container.
Arrange a layer of graham crackers across the bottom, breaking some pieces if necessary to fill the gaps.
Spread a generous layer of the cream mixture over the crackers.
Add a layer of sliced or diced mangoes.
4. Repeat the Layers
Continue layering:
Graham crackers → cream → mangoes
Repeat until you’ve used most of the ingredients.
Finish with a generous layer of the cream mixture.
5. Decorate
Arrange the reserved mango slices beautifully over the top.
Sprinkle with crushed graham crackers for a little extra texture.
6. Chill
Cover the dish tightly and refrigerate for at least 6–8 hours, preferably overnight.
This chilling time allows the graham crackers to soften and absorb some of the creamy mixture, giving the dessert a soft, cake-like texture.
7. Serve
Cut into squares and serve cold.
For an extra-frozen treat, you can freeze the dessert and allow it to soften slightly before serving.
Tips for the Best Mango Float
Use ripe mangoes: Choose mangoes that are sweet, fragrant, and juicy. The better the mangoes, the better the dessert.
Chill the cream: Very cold cream whips more easily and gives the dessert a better texture.
Don’t rush the chilling: Overnight refrigeration gives the graham crackers plenty of time to soften.
Don’t oversweeten: Very ripe mangoes are naturally sweet, so adjust the amount of condensed milk according to your taste.
Make individual portions: Assemble the layers in small cups or jars for an easy party dessert.
Optional Variations
Mango-Coconut Float
Add a layer of toasted shredded coconut between the mango and cream.
Mango Cheesecake Float
Beat 4 oz softened cream cheese into the cream mixture for a richer, cheesecake-like filling.
Chocolate Mango Float
Add a light layer of chocolate cookie crumbs between the layers.
Frozen Mango Float
Freeze the assembled dessert overnight for a firmer, ice-cream-like texture. Let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes before slicing.
Storage
Keep the mango float covered and refrigerated. For the best texture and flavor, enjoy it within 2–3 days.
Final Result
Every bite is a combination of sweet ripe mangoes, silky whipped cream, and tender graham crackers. It’s refreshing, creamy, and completely no-bake—making it an easy dessert for family gatherings, parties, or whenever you’re craving something sweet and chilled.
