Quick 20-Minute Bread
Need fresh bread in a hurry? This easy 20-minute bread is soft inside, lightly golden outside, and requires no yeast or long rising time. It’s perfect for breakfast, sandwiches, soups, or serving alongside dinner.
🍞 Ingredients
- 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- ¾ cup (180 ml) warm milk
- 2 tablespoons melted butter or olive oil
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder, optional
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley, optional
👩🍳 Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
2. Mix the Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
Add garlic powder if using.
3. Add the Wet Ingredients
Pour in the warm milk and melted butter.
Stir with a wooden spoon until a soft dough forms.
Don’t overmix.
4. Shape the Bread
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface.
Gently knead it just 4–5 times, then shape it into a round loaf about 1½ inches thick.
Place it on the prepared baking sheet.
Use a sharp knife to make a shallow cross on the top.
Brush with a little melted butter if desired.
5. Bake
Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the bread is lightly golden and cooked through.
For a deeper golden crust, brush the top with butter immediately after removing it from the oven.
6. Cool and Serve
Let the bread cool for about 5 minutes before slicing.
Serve warm with butter, honey, jam, or alongside your favorite soup or stew.
⭐ Tips for the Best Quick Bread
- Don’t overwork the dough—minimal mixing keeps it tender.
- If the dough feels too dry, add milk 1 tablespoon at a time.
- If it feels sticky, sprinkle in a little extra flour.
- Make the loaf relatively flat so it cooks quickly.
- For cheesy bread, fold in ½ cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella.
- For garlic bread, brush the finished loaf with melted butter mixed with garlic and parsley.
