Jalapeño Popper Wonton Cups
These Jalapeño Popper Wonton Cups are crispy, creamy, cheesy, and packed with the perfect amount of jalapeño heat. Made with crunchy wonton wrappers, a rich cream cheese filling, crispy bacon, and melted cheese, they’re an irresistible appetizer for parties, game days, and gatherings.
Ingredients
- 24 wonton wrappers
- 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 2–3 fresh jalapeños, finely diced
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- Cooking spray
Directions
1. Prepare the Oven
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Lightly spray a 24-cup mini muffin pan with cooking spray.
2. Make the Filling
In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, cheddar, Monterey Jack, crumbled bacon, diced jalapeños, green onions, garlic, onion powder, black pepper, smoked paprika, and parsley.
Mix until well combined.
3. Form the Wonton Cups
Place one wonton wrapper into each mini muffin cup.
Gently press the wrapper down and up the sides to form a small cup.
For sturdier cups, place a second wrapper on top, rotating it slightly so the corners don’t line up.
4. Fill the Cups
Spoon approximately 1 tablespoon of the jalapeño popper mixture into each wonton cup.
Don’t overfill, as the cheese will bubble as it melts.
5. Bake
Bake for 10–14 minutes, until the wonton edges are golden brown and crisp and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Watch closely during the final few minutes because wonton wrappers can brown quickly.
6. Cool and Serve
Let the wonton cups cool in the pan for 3–5 minutes before carefully removing them.
Serve warm.
Recipe Tips
- Remove the jalapeño seeds and membranes for a milder appetizer.
- Leave some seeds in if you prefer more heat.
- Full-fat cream cheese creates the creamiest filling.
- Cook the bacon until crisp so it stays flavorful inside the creamy filling.
- Add a drizzle of ranch dressing or hot honey just before serving.
- For extra crunch, sprinkle toasted breadcrumbs over the filling before baking.
- Assemble the cups shortly before baking to keep the wonton wrappers crisp.
- Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat in an air fryer or oven for the best texture.
